Heywood and Middleton by-election, 2014

Labour hold

A by-election was held for the Heywood and Middleton constituency on 9 October 2014 following the death of Labour Co-operative MP Jim Dobbin.

Only five candidates were nominated. Rossendale Borough Cllr Liz McInnes will defend the seat for Labour, with Conservative opposition coming from Bury Cllr Iain Gartside. UKIP are standing businessman and former Wythenshawe and Sale East by-election candidate John Bickley, while the Liberal Democrats are standing local businessman Anthony Smith. The Greens complete the ballot paper with local resident Abi Jackson.

Liz McInnes held the seat for Labour.
