Brightlingsea by-election, 2014

Conservative gain from UKIP

A by-election will be held for the Brightlingsea division of Essex County Council on 9 October 2014 following the resignation of UKIP Cllr Roger Lord, after being deselected as UKIP's prospective parliamentary candidate for Clacton in favour of Conservative defector Douglas Carswell for the Clacton by-election being held on the same day.

Alan Goggin gained the seat for the Conservatives.
